Give That Gator Some Chicken
Most of my family lives in Louisiana. I go down there as often as I can to see them! On one visit they were throwing a big family reunion, and one of the things we did was take an airboat tour out to the swamps. Airboats are very loud! But it's important to use one, the waters can be quite shallow and theres a lot of stumps under the water from the days of heavy cypress logging.
There were about 3 boats and we occasionally all stopped together to talk and take pictures. Our tour guide gave us a lot of history about the region, I forgot a lot of it by now...but the gators remember the tour routine well. They come pretty quick when the guide slaps the water. They came up and the guide tossed them some chicken. Beautiful, terrifying creatures!
Interstate 10 crosses over this basin, and it's bridges are the third longest in the nation at 18 miles long. We rode under the bridges for a bit before turning back to where we started. I'm no history expert so if you want to learn more about this region, check it out on Wikipedia!
