Sonoran Desert Snow Day Arizona

A Pleasant Surprise

I was hanging out around Superior and snow was in the forecast. In my camping travels, when it is supposed to snow (or rain a lot), I get off the dirt. I dont have 4 wheel drive, so getting stuck in mud or snow is a concern. Using unpaved roads when they are very wet leaves deep ruts anyways, which is not courteous to future drivers.

Superior is an oddity among many of the other towns I've stayed near, as it has a highway rest stop right in town that permits overnight parking. As such, I can stay there until I feel confident that the unpaved trails are in better condition. Photos in the town during this snow event can be found on my page for Superior.

The snow did indeed come down and I took some pictures before it melted. This region is about as high of an elevation as the cacti that call the Sonoran Desert home can survive. The saguaros do not like freezing temperatures, and it is here in this region that the mountains become too high and cold to support their growth. As such, I've been able to capture an event unique to this transitional zone.

I don't really have a lot more to say about it. It was fun, and I hope you enjoy the photos.
